In 2007, our church took a journey through the book of Amos in a study led by our pastor, Ross Sawyers. At the conclusion of the study, Ross and the body of 121 felt a call to follow the heart of God for justice.
At that point, 121 entered into a focused time of seeking God for guidance concerning our role in loving and defending the helpless and hopeless. From this, the Amos Project was born: a mission effort specifically intended for followers of Christ to address injustice in a way that glorifies Him, both globally and locally.
Teams were formed in 2008 to coordinate various aspects of the project, including prayer, research, and engagement of the church body in the effort. Through months of research, prayer, discussion and decisions, God led the team to the final areas of involvement which now comprise the Amos Project.
