A LifeGroup consists of a group of people who commit to life together in the context of three key relationships.

The group will pursue relationships with:

  • God, specifically through prayer and Bible study
  • each other, specifically through fellowship and care
  • non-believers, specifically through being involved in local and global Mission efforts.

FAQs for LifeGroups

What exactly is a “LifeGroup”? Is it like a Bible study group?
LifeGroups are the primary ministry model for adults at 121. While Bible study is central to the life of any group, a LifeGroup is far more than a Bible study. LifeGroups are a community of people who commit to doing life together in the context of three primary relationships:
•    God, through prayer and Bible study;
•    Each other, through fellowship and care; and
•    Non-believers, through communicating Christ in personal relationships and involvement in local and global mission efforts.

How do I get involved in a LifeGroup? Where do I start?
To narrow down the LifeGroup that might be the best fit, you might want to begin with these questions:

•    Are you interested in a Men's, Women's, Couples, or Mixed LG? Click on the corresponding tab on the right to view a list of those LifeGroup Options.
•    Where do you live? the LifeGroup Lists are organized by location, so as you scroll through the options, you can begin to narrow down those LifeGroups in your area.
•    What day and time of the week would be possible for you? Once you have the list of LifeGroup options narrowed down, you can begin to find which day and time work best for you.

After you determine the answers to those questions, feel free to email or call the leaders of the groups which “fit” and have a conversation about what their groups are like. Feel free to visit several groups! All our groups are open and there is no problem just coming to check it out.

What is a “mixed” LifeGroup?
A mixed group is for anybody! Men, women, married, single, young adults, older adults…whoever wants to come.  This is a group where people at every age or stage of life can learn from and encourage one another.

Where do LifeGroups meet?
Homes are the best environment to build authenticity in relationships (one of our core values at 121), so the majority of our groups meet in homes or apartments. Some meet in restaurants and coffee shops, and some meet at the 121 facility. Contact the LifeGroup leader for the exact location and directions.

Do you have childcare for my kids?
Childcare is available in some LifeGroups for a small cost, and other groups arrange their own childcare either by finding workers and/or taking care of the kids within the LifeGroup as a way to truly invest in each others’ lives, including children. The groups which currently have childcare are noted with an asterisk on the LifeGroup list on the website.

I would like to visit a Singles LifeGroup – I don’t see any on the list.
We do not segregate our singles into separate LifeGroups. Instead, singles are integrated into the life of the church and that includes the LifeGroups Ministry. All men’s, women’s, and mixed groups are open for singles, and most groups include both single and married adults.

What do the LifeGroups study?
Our LifeGroups are encouraged to study through a variety of areas throughout the year – such as a book of the New Testament, a topical study, a book of the Old Testament, a study on a spiritual discipline, etc. We believe that a well-rounded LifeGroup will study many things throughout a year, which appeals to most people.
