Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is the 2nd most atheistic country in Europe with over 55% of Czech people professing to be atheists and many more functional atheists.
121 is now partnered with Young Life in Ostrava, Czech Republic to share the good news of Jesus Christ with young people living in spiritual darkness.

Young Life’s Work
The vision of Young Life in Ostrava is to provide every young person an opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and decide to follow Him. The leadership is then intentional in connecting them to a local church.
Young Life leaders build relationships with young people and share about Jesus in the context of those relationships. Czech people are very skeptical of Christians, so it takes a long time for them to trust and to be open to the Gospel – often 3 years or more! A highly relational approach is critical.
- Leaders go to the schools to hang out with kids, teach English or coach sports.
- “Club” takes place each week with fun songs, crazy games, and an inspiring message about Jesus.
- Bible studies are held each week for new believers and those interested in learning more.
- Throughout the year there are camps (skiing, outdoor adventures, and English) with more time to build relationships and have deeper talks about God.
Young Life leaders are currently reaching out in several schools where they are connecting with students through English clubs and sports activities. Many of these kids have never heard a relevant witness about Jesus Christ!

Summer Camps
Many Czech parents are very cautious about letting their children attend anything that seems “too religious”, however, they are excited about their children having the opportunity to speak English with native speakers. Along with English classes, the students participate in sports, fun activities, and Club with a Gospel message.
AMICUS Exchange Student Program
One way to impact Czech students without ever leaving DFW is by hosting a foreign exchange student through Young Life’s Amicus program. Host families provide room and board and a caring home for the student for 10 months while they attend a local high school. The student would attend 121 Community Church with your family and hopefully be able to get involved in local Young Life. This is an amazing opportunity to impact a student and to grow as a family!
