THE MISSION OF GOD

The Mission of God from now until the end of time is to make Himself known to all the peoples of the earth, so they may know and worship Him, and Him alone.

God has most clearly revealed Himself through Jesus Christ, and continues to make Himself known through His Spirit, His Word, and His people.

The Mission began in Genesis 12:1-3, was clearly defined in Matthew 28:19-20, and will culminate in the picture of Revelation 7:9-10.

PHILOSOPHY & FOCUS

Partnering in Ministry is a core value of 121 Community Church. We will never seek to "go it alone." Rather, we will coordinate with partners who have the same core mission, vision, and values.

There are a few foundational principles and priorities that guide our efforts and our choice of partners.

  • THE MISSION FOR EVERY BELIEVER

The Mission of God is for every one of Jesus' followers. We do not speak of "missions" as a ministry of the church. Rather, God's Mission is for every believer, every child of God. Sharing the Gospel with others, serving halfway around the world, looking beyond ourselves to the world God loves - these are normal and natural for any child of God.

  • LOCAL & GLOBAL

The Mission of God is a comprehensive, global mission. He calls His people to share Christ with those right around us (including those who are like us and those who are very different from us) and with those all around the world. We are stewards of the good news of Christ, and we must share in word and deed with our neighbors, friends, family, co-workers, and classmates. We also must cross barriers to reach those from other cultures who speak different languages and have entirely different worldviews, value systems, and beliefs. Therefore our work is always both local and global.

  • UNREACHED PEOPLES

There are entire groups of people (ethnic, linguistic, cultural) in our world who have never had an opportunity to hear the good news about Jesus Christ. Many of these people groups are located in northern India, which is a major area of focus for 121 for this reason. For more info about unreached people groups, check out these links: 121 UPG Info, Joshua Project, and the U.S. Center for World Mission.

  • JUSTICE FOR CHILDREN AT RISK

We desire to seek justice for and share the love of God with children who are in desperate circumstances. This includes children at risk in the DFW area and around the world. Some lack a healthy home environment or access to education, others are without adequate nourishment or care, and others are victims of violent forms of oppression. The issue of justice for children at risk is the basis for the Amos Project

  • LOCAL CHURCHES

We will commit time, energy, and resources to help plant, strengthen, and multiply local churches throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the USA, and the world. We believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ and that healthy, reproducing local churches are the greatest hope for any community to be transformed by knowing, loving, following, and obeying Jesus Christ.

  • NATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Supporting, training, and partnering in appropriate ways with national leaders is a key to reaching all peoples and establishing healthy local churches around the world. 121 seeks to work alongside effective national leaders in our partnerships. Where there is a lack of national leadership, we will seek the guidance of experienced, long term missionaries in any effort we undertake.
