Overview of the Student Ministry

Our VISION
Our vision as a church is a community of transformed people living for Jesus Christ (Col. 1:28). In the life of a teenager, this looks like a student experiencing an authentic relationship with Christ and other believers while engaging in God’s mission in the world. Therefore, our desire is that by the time of high school graduation students would:
- Be in an authentic relationship with Christ and continue to grow through spiritual disciplines.
- Understand the big picture of the Bible and have a biblical worldview.
- Have a strong heart-connection with their parents.
- Have healthy friendships with other believers.
- Have clear moral boundaries and make wise choices.
- Be involved in the God’s Mission both in their world and around the world.
- Remain actively involved in the local church where they are using their spiritual gifts to serve.
Our Mission
- To lead students to live for Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:21)
Our Strategy
- Create atmospheres of worship (John 4:15-26)
- Build small groups of community (Acts 2:41-47)
- Provide opportunities to live on mission (Mt. 28:18-20)
OUR CURRICULUM
- For Junior High students (7-8th grade) we are using the LIVE Curriculum. We'll hit on topics relevant to the world of a Junior High student through different series. They will connect with their friends and LifeGroup leaders through engaging questions, hands-on experiences, and friendships that will guide them in the journey toward lives built around the love, truth, and mission of Jesus. See more details by clicking on the link above.
- For High School students (9-12th grade) we are using XP3 (www.xp3students.com) as our primary curriculum. XP3 stands for "eXperience 3" and focuses on 3 things every student should experience to have a personal, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ: Wonder, Passion, and Discovery. The XP3 content is taught in multiple 3-4 week series that are grounded in Scripture and relevant the world of a high school student.
On a weekly basis, we encourage students to be a part of one of our worship experiences: AMPLIFY for students in Junior High (7-8th grade) or ELEVATE for students in High School (9-12th grade). Here, students have the opportunity to experience both an atmosphere of worship and small groups of community (called LifeGroups). LifeGroups are small groups of students divided by grade and gender that meet with an adult leader. Both of these experiences include food, games, a live band and relevant bible study and they are a great way to connect with other teenagers. Amplify takes place on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm in 121 Central. Elevate takes place on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm in the West End.
We encourage students to be a part of the church wide worship experience on Sundays at 9:15 or 11:00 am to worship with their family or friends. We also encourage students to be a part of i-Serve on Sunday mornings by serving on a ministry team such as 121 Kids, Preschool, Greeting, etc. To learn more about I-Serve opportunities, contact .
On Sunday mornings, students and parents are invited to come by our Student Ministry Kiosk near the back double doors of the church. This is a great place to meet our leaders, see pictures and videos from our events, connect to iServe and learn more about the student ministry. We have a small gift for new students who come by the kiosk.
We also have special events throughout the year such as weekend retreats, summer camp, mission trips, etc. Keep up to date with these events by checking the website, reading the weekly parent e-mail update (CLICK HERE to be added), or going to our online calendar.
