6 “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;
8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

How good are you at finishing things? For many, there is nothing as frustrating as an unfinished project. Something left undone for a prolonged period of time can quickly become an anxiety trigger point. Those who finish what they start are to be greatly admired.

On the topic of finishing strong, here are some thoughts to ponder. How did you complete 2018? Would you say you are happy with how it turned out? How do you hope to finish 2019?

The manner in which something ends can have lasting effects. Regardless of what has been left undone in the past, make every effort to go into the New Year resolved to be a finisher. There may not be a more fitting verse to focus on “finishing” as we wrap up one year and get ready to begin another. Let’s make this our goal for 2019…to fight the good fight and keep the faith, come what may. To keep our eyes on the future reward that awaits those who faithfully serve our Lord. Determine to honor God in how you finish everything in 2019.

• What are you most looking forward to about 2019?

• How are you preparing for the New Year in a way that honors God?

• Ask God to help you finish well.
