8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

Have you ever been called into court as a witness?

If so, you probably had some important evidence that needed to be shared with the court. As a witness, you give testimony by reporting what you saw or by being an expert in a certain field. A witness plays a crucial role in the legal process. In many cases, the freedom, life, or death of a person can depend upon the witness.

Someone once said, “There are two kinds of people when it comes to missions—those who need to share Christ and those who need to hear about Him.” As Christ’s followers, we are all witnesses to God’s goodness and faithfulness in our lives. We all have a very important testimony to share about what God has done in our life.

Being a missionary is not an option for believers—it’s what we are called to be. The power promised originally by Jesus is still available now to help us carry out God’s plan for our lives. Jesus wants every person from one end of the earth to the other to know about Him.

How are you contributing to making this a reality?

• How might God use your specific testimony of knowing Him to impact others?
• How does reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit give you greater confidence to share your faith?
• How will you seek to rely more on the Holy Spirit this week to live out the purposes of God?
• Ask the Holy Spirit to help you become the best witness possible for Jesus Christ.
