8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
What comes to mind when you think about grace? Grace can be described as an unmerited kindness, the bestowal of blessings, a divine condition of being favored, a free gift, or an undeserved love. All of these descriptors give a picture of God’s interaction with mankind. This is quite astounding when we properly understand the God who deals so graciously with us.
Do you perceive your salvation as God’s grace and work, or as something you’ve gained on your own? It cannot be both. It doesn’t work that way. Spend this Christmas season pondering what God did to rescue us from the condition we were in. By grace you have been saved. Celebrate this fact! Meditate on it. Let the truth of these verses sink into your heart and mind.
