And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus is the actual living, breathing Word of God. In Him, God’s personal language—the very breath of God—was manifested in human form. God knew there was no better way to express Himself to us than to come in human form like us. In this, we recognize that Jesus is able to relate to the struggles we face and empathize with us in hardship.

Jesus Christ, the Word fully incarnate, fully God, left heaven, took on the flesh of mankind, and entered our world. This inconceivable event forever changed the world. As Christmas approaches, let the magnitude of what Jesus did for you resonate in your heart and mind.

• What sacrifices did Jesus make to come to earth in human form?

• How does the giving nature of God in Christ compel you to be giving toward others?

• Pray that the Holy Spirit would continually remind you who God is and what He has done.
