5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Humility helps us live our daily lives in a manner pleasing to God.

Being humble enables us to live in harmony with others. Do you have an unselfish disregard for your own concerns and attentiveness to the needs of others?

Americans have an escalating problem with a sense of entitlement. We seem to think we deserve just about everything. Pride is something we must fight all of our lives. We conquer it by focusing on who the Savior is and what He did for us. Jesus did not consider His divinity something to be flaunted. He did not use it for His own personal advantage.

There is no greater example of humility.

He voluntarily left the glory of heaven and came to die for our sins. Jesus’ love for us took Him from the highest position in the universe to the lowest position on earth so that unworthy people could be rescued from God’s judgment and wrath.

This should fill our hearts with overflowing love and unwavering devotion to Him!

• How does Jesus’ example of humility challenge your perspective of what is owed to you by others?
• What steps can you take to grow in humility and destroy pride in your life?
• Pray for harmony in all of your relationships. Ask God to keep you humble and always aware of the needs of others. Ask for forgiveness from pride.
