8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
“Actions speak louder than words.”
You’ve probably heard this your whole life. We all know it’s true. It’s one thing to talk the talk, but to walk the walk is something else entirely. Words are easy, but actions require more.
When the words and actions of a believer align, it is an inspiringly beautiful thing to witness. When they don’t match up, it can be devastating, hurtful, and heartbreaking—especially if it’s coming from an authority figure such as a pastor. What is preached on Sundays should be lived the rest of the week. The gospel’s effectiveness is greatly hindered by Christians who act differently at church than they do elsewhere. The way we live for God should permeate all areas of life.
Isn’t it amazing that we serve a God who lives out what He says? This is fantastic news! If you have ever needed proof of the depth of God’s love for you, here it is in this verse. Jesus didn’t just tell us what to do—He showed us. He was genuine and transparent. His actions reflected the love He commanded us to have for one another.
Godly people may act in ungodly ways, but Jesus never will. He is faithful and He is true. He will never disappoint you!
• How do the teachings of Jesus’ impact the way you live? Would others say this is true about you?
• Who has sinned against you that you need to offer forgiveness as Christ has forgiven you? How will you act on this?
• Thank Jesus for His willingness to go to the cross for you. Commit to live for Him because He died for you!
