Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

Doing good is a lot like planting and tending a garden. It takes dedication and there is rarely an instant reward. The results take a lot of time to see. Further, things like droughts, storms, wild animals, etc. often threaten the crops. It takes a lot of work to plant a successful and thriving garden.

The same is true with us. Our faith takes work. There will be times we don’t always get it right. We will face storms, be tempted, and mess up. But we can move forward by following Jesus faithfully. We can trust God’s words to Paul that His grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Life has a way of making us all weary at times, but God empowers us to not give up in the midst of hardship. He is faithful to reward faithfulness. We will reap a bountiful harvest of blessing if we don’t give up!

• How can you seek to keep from growing discouraged when facing hardship in following Christ?

• How does this verse encourage you to persevere, even when you don’t see immediate results?

• Pray for the ability to persevere and trust God will yield the fruit of His harvest in the right time.
