Crossover

When and where do they meet?
The program will follow the GCISD school calendar and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30pm-6:30pm in the Upper East Side at 121. Crossover is offered by way of a partnership between Grapevine Police Department’s Community Outreach and 121 Community Church.

What do they do?
This program will serve students that attend Cross Timbers Middle School and Grapevine Middle School, many of whom participated in the VAST (Valuable After School Time) programs while in elementary.

Middle school is a critical time in life that is full of changes. In these years, students are getting their first taste of independence and are starting to make decisions that will set the trajectory for their lives. Structure, guidance, and a place to belong are crucial to their success. Crossover exists to be a safe place for middle school students to grow socially, educationally, and emotionally and to prepare them for future success. We hope to point students to the GCISD Collegiate Academy where, upon graduation, they will receive a diploma AND an associates degree from Tarrant County College. The goal of Crossover is to create an environment where students can explore, dream and plan the course of their future. Each week the students will have an opportunity to do enrichment activities that include leadership, college planning, vital life skills, and career exploration by way of a variety of guest speakers and field trips. Students will also receive homework help, snacks and a hot meal.

Specific roles to serve include:
1. Volunteer Mentors are needed to connect with students relationally, help with homework, etc.
2. Guest Speakers-give 45 minutes to an hour of your time to tell the students about your career and what it took to get there. When possible, we would love to have the group (15 students) visit the guest speaker’s workplace as a field trip (not required!).

29Fifty Ministry (LifeGroup Opportunity to Serve)

When and where do they meet?
LifeGroups will participate in a monthly event to build community throughout the 2950 Apartment community on the 1st of every month.

What do they do?
Meeting monthly will allow 121ers to build relationships within the community, walk alongside by supporting the apartment staff and facilitating residents with connecting to one another.

Members are needed to support & free up the lead LifeGroup who will plan and host each event. Having the lead LifeGroup be the constant/familiar face, allows them to build deeper relationships.
